Quote of the *Hobbit* Day
Today is the 22nd September, which anyone as tragic as me will know is officially Hobbit Day owing to the fact that it’s the joint birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.
I couldn’t let this one go by without a quote.

Quote of the Birthday
I tried really hard to come up with a post other than a quote for today, but this morning I woke up with this in my head and it seemed far too perfect:

Have you been feeling neglected? Sorry folks. I’ve been kind of busy seeing the awesome Tim Minchin and friends play live at The Albert Hall. 🙂
I think I’m the only movie blogger I know who didn’t go to the Empire Big Screen this weekend, but I’m looking forward to hearing what you all thought. Until then, I thought I’d give you a Quote of the Day to remind you that I still exist and haven’t in fact been looted.
Watched this recently. You already know how I feel about this film.

–Then why are you smiling?
–Because I know something you don’t know.
–And what is that?
-I… am not left-handed!–You are amazing.
–I ought to be, after 20 years.
–Oh, there’s something I ought to tell you.
– Tell me.
–I’m not left-handed either!”
Quote of the *disappearing* Day
Sorry to post two Quote of the Days in a row but I’m heading off for a couple of weeks and didn’t want to go without saying goodbye.
I don’t have time for a proper post, but I did finally get around to seeing this film which has been at the top of my to watch list for a long time. It’s completely surreal as expected, and perhaps not quite as good as I might have hoped, but I’m glad I finally got around to seeing it.
This line was my one laugh out loud moment of the film:
“We can’t stop here, this is bat country!”
See you when I get back at the end of July

I’m going to be busy for the next couple of days doing some St John Ambulance work for the Hyde Park Summer concerts.
It’s a hardlife 😛
There’s really only one quote to kick off today:

Had a potentially exciting interview today, so only one quote could be appropriate:

Another new discovery for me. I haven’t put this one on the list (yet) but I think it may end up there. It’s very low budget and underground (and weird), but also pretty compelling.
“Greetings Citizens. We are living in the age in which the pursuit of all values other than; Money, Success, Fame, Glamour, have either been discredited or destroyed.
Money, Success, Fame, Glamour. For we are living in the age of the thing.”
I’ll be impressed if you know this one.

I finally have a 100th entry on my Movies To See Before You Die list! It’s been getting gradually longer since I first started it two years ago (the first list had about 65 films on).
This latest entry really is a fantastic movie that it’s taken me far too long to see. And it has so many brilliant quotes I’m going to cheat and have two today. Definitely a film everyone should see; it never quite lets itself get pigeon holed into a genre so the plot always keeps you guessing, and the performances are all brilliant.

-“On the corpse. My question is…”
-“No, my question. I get to go first. Why in pluperfect hell would you pee on a corpse!?”“You, stop multiplying.”
Quote of the Day
Ennjoying the snow everyone? In London we have something between proper snow and murky black sludge, which means everything is still running, but getting in to lectures means braving the slippery streets. :S
Have a snow quote to mark the occassion:
“When did you leave?”
“January 12, 1965. Very snowy that day. 7.2 inches of snow that day.”
Hope you’re all getting time off as England once again proves that all snow is the wrong kind of snow.
Review of The Motorcycle Diaries coming soon, I’m just too tired to write it tonight.

There really is only one movie to quote on the 5th of November. I’m not even going to disguise it.
“Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.”
I’m currently sitting in my 7th floor flat listening to London rumble and crackle. I always think it would be a terrifying tradition to anyone who didn’t know what it was. Enjoy the fireworks 🙂
